Summer Skin Care - Erasing Past and Present Skin Sins

The warm summer months are just ahead and that means, it’s time to hit the beach, park, garden, lake or any other sun drenched destination! But is your skin ready for months of fun in the sun? Does it already need immediate help form past or present abuse? Here’s our guide on how to get silky, perfectly bronzed skin all summer long:

1. Exfoliate:  Exfoliation is the key to glowing skin year-round, but it’s especially important now. Slough off dead skin cells that have accumulated on your skin from the dry winter months. Massage an exfoliant over skin gently, paying special attention to particularly dry areas like elbows, knees and feet.
2. Clean Skin Twice a Day:  Simple washing is ESSENTIAL in the summer, since we must get rid off excessive dirt, sweat and contaminants. 
3. Moisturize: There’s no escaping this step. If you want your skin to look great, moisturization is the key to fighting off dry, dull-looking skin. It’ll also help retain pigment longer and more evenly, which is vital if you plan on using a self-tanner.
4. Self-Tan:  If you are going to tan this summer, self-tanner is one of your best bets for glowy, bronzed skin. Today, there’s a bevy of different products to choose from.  If splotchiness appears, it can be evened out with moisturizer or by exfoliating.
5. Protect Your Skin against Sun and UV Rays: Sunscreen should be part of your daily ritual, but it’s a must-have if you’re going to spend hours in the sun. Before you hit the beach, slather on sunscreen 30 minutes prior to protect your skin from harmful rays. Then, re-apply every two hours or after a dip in the water (even if it says waterproof!).
6. Skip the makeup. If you really can’t go without it, apply a coat of waterproof mascara and swipe on some lip balm.  Show off your natural skin glow!
