Herbs
have been the based of all medicines, corporal and beauty care products
throughout history. Until very recently, every household had a collection of
home-made recipes for common ailments and beauty products, most of them based in
everyday kitchen ingredients and herbs. Many of us have found memories of
grandmothers preparing a soothing "upset tummy" tea or a lemon and sugar
clarifying paste for our "unladylike" knees and elbows.
As we entered the "modern age world", we discarded, mostly
out of convenience, those natural recipes for ready to use creams, soaps and
lotions. In a very few decades, the modern cosmetic world blossomed, into a
multi-billion dollar industry.
Was this change for the better? Many of us have mix
feelings. It is enough to read an ingredients label for any common cream or
soap to see that we are using in our skin many substances that do not seem fit
for human (or animal) consumption. Our skin is our largest organ, and "drinks"
everything we apply into it. It is not a coincidence that skin disorders have
skyrocketed these last fifty years! Modern cosmetics surely are attractively
packed, but they have morphed into compounds that contain less than 2% of
natural substances...and how do you feel about animal testing?
Many of us believe that there is no way to justify
testing cosmetics or any of their ingredients on animals. It is not only cruel,
but utterly unnecessary: The only way to check if they are safe for humans
is to test on humans.
Bohemia Style Cosmetics
can vouch for the effectiveness of each one of our products: We use them
ourselves! We have no qualms about being "Guinea Pigs": would you be afraid to
try a bar soap based purely on chamomile and honey? Of course not!
This guide will help you get re-acquainted with Mother
Nature: it provides us with everything necessary to keep us groomed, healthy
and, of course, beautiful. Learn about herb's properties, and their use in
Organic Cosmetics. Grandma was wise indeed!
